Black Wattle Chest of Drawer’s Blue River with Waterfall Edge.

Well this was an amazing build from concept to design using the “Black Wattle” I had in stock.

It was close! I only had enough timber to make this once without any errors so the saws were sharp the measurements were accurate and the tolerances were all within a millimetre.

After inspecting all the stock for 2 days I knew I could create a very unique bespoke piece that would look great in anyone’s home or office or Art Gallery.

After levelling all of the stock, I then re-sawed the Black Wattle in 1/2 using my Lugana 18in BX Bandsaw. I was able to thickness the cut side to a clean 12mm finish. I backed up the chest sides with marine ply and epoxy glued the panels to gain another 12mm which gave me a solid 24mm finish.

The customer wanted a blue resin river running through the top and down the sides, we were able to achieve this with great effect after carefully selecting and book matching the Black Wattle timber.

The drawer fronts were also booked matched to gain a unique, bespoke piece of modern furniture.

The base for the chest was carefully selected from 1 piece of slightly darker Black Wattle and is highly figured and shimmers of gold shine in the right light. The base was mortice and tenon for strength with a subtle taper on the legs.

I think you will agree this is a beautiful piece of Modern Furniture or Modern Art Work Piece.
